    NEW INTERCEPTOR TECHNICAL SHEETS & SELECTION CHART

    The use of Interceptors in the drainage industry is often misunderstood – a number of options are available but in many cases information is misleading causing incorrect product specification, which reduces the efficiency of the drainage system and causes difficulties during installation.

    W T Knowles & Sons Ltd has resolved this by creating technical data sheets for its range of clay Interceptors as well as an easy to understand Interceptor selection chart..

    Interceptors are essentially traps in a drainage system, which also provide an access point for rodding. The loop bend in the body is filled with water up to the outlet or discharge level (creating a water trap), which isolates the drain from the sewer to prevent gases and odours permeating back up into the system as well as providing an essential “rat trap”, preventing the progress of vermin. Normal flow passes below the rodding point and therefore any blockages can be cleared by access through the rodding arm, which can be upstream, or downstream depending on the type of Interceptor selected. Interceptors are also suitable for water jetting which can be inserted into the rodding arm as required.

    W T Knowles can supply 4 different types of Interceptors with rodding access, all of which are supplied with gully plugs and have an optional lever-locking stopper available if required. Selection is dependant upon whether these are used on the outlet or the inlet side of the manhole, rodding direction (downstream or upstream), angled or horizontal rodding point can be picked for preference, inlet and outlet ports can be supplied with fall, slight fall or level and the channel pipe joint can be supplied with half socket or half butt.
