    May 2008

Yorkshire based clay drainage and chimney pot manufacturer, WT Knowles, has recently supplied 46 KYL12 Flue Vents and 4 KYP26 Louvre Chimney Pots to Kings Cross Station in London. Opened in 1852, Kings Cross is a major railway terminus with over 20 million passengers a year use the station.

In 2005, a £400m restoration plan was announced by Network Rail and planned is a thorough restoration of the arched roof of the station and the demolition of the 1972 addition, to be replaced by an open-air plaza.

A semi-circular concourse (estimated completion date 2012) will be built in the space directly to the west of the station.

The Flue vents and Chimney Pots are part of the refurbishment of the offices building on York way which when complete, will become new offices for British rail as well as part of a new commercial development.

WT Knowles worked in partnership with Chimney Care Ltd of Tunbridge Wells who offered a complete service to the client including site surveys and chimney relining.
